Istos, Simplify, Jobright and LazyApply: which job search tool fits you
A fair, dated look at four ways to run a job search with AI, from tools that apply for you to one that waits for your approval. What each does, what it costs, and when to pick the others.
I build Istos, so I'm not a neutral party. What I can do is be careful: every claim about another product below comes from that company's own website, linked in the sources, checked on 5 October 2026. Where their pages didn't say something, I say that instead of guessing. Prices change, so check the sources before you decide.
The four tools here sit at different points on one question: how much of your job search do you want software to do without asking you? LazyApply (opens in a new tab) applies for you at volume. Jobright (opens in a new tab) and Simplify (opens in a new tab) match, tailor and fill in applications, and both now offer agents that apply on your behalf. Istos finds and checks roles, drafts the application, and waits for you to approve every send.
I left Teal out. Its site blocked our checks on the day, and I won't write about prices I couldn't read.
At a glance
Istos, Simplify, Jobright and LazyApply compared for a job search. Checked against each company's own website on 5 Oct 2026. Prices are in US dollars as their pages showed them; they change, so check the sources below before you decide.
What each one is for
Simplify describes itself as an AI job search partner that "proactively matches better-fit roles, customize your resume, and applies for you". It says it's trusted by more than 2 million job seekers. The free plan includes matches, the Copilot autofill extension and the job tracker. Simplify+ adds AI resume tailoring, cover letters, answers to application questions, outreach emails and job analytics. Its Autopilot agent, in beta for a subset of Simplify+ members, opens the company's application portal, fills it in and submits it. Simplify's own help page is direct about the difference: with Copilot "you review the page and click Submit yourself", while with Autopilot "there's no step where you review it first".
Jobright calls itself an AI job search copilot. It offers personalised job matches, one-click autofill "across all major ATS platforms", job-specific tailored resumes, insider referrals through alumni and hiring managers, and a 24/7 career copilot called Orion. Its agent page describes "proactively matching roles, customizing your resume, and applying for you", with auto-apply. It says it has more than 3,000,000 users and 8,000,000+ jobs.
LazyApply is the most direct about its aim: its AI tool will "automatically apply to all the jobs on platforms like Greenhouse, Dice, Indeed and Ziprecruiter". It also sends customised referral emails to employees at companies you apply to, and tracks everything in a dashboard. Plans are priced by the year and by daily volume: 15, 150 or 1,500 applications a day.
Istos works from a list of companies you choose. It reads their own job boards and careers pages, plus government job banks with an open API, and checks every role: is it still on the company's site, how old is it, does it sponsor visas, and does anything about it look fake. It tells you your odds as strong, fair or low with the reasons, drafts applications from your resume for the best few, and waits for you to approve each one. It sends from your own email address. The same account also runs agents for sales leads and investors.
Where Istos fits
- You'd rather apply to ten roles well than a hundred blind. Istos is built for the roles you'd be excited about, with a warm path to a person at the company before you apply.
- You want every role checked. Each role shows whether it's still listed on the company's own domain, how long ago it was posted, and red flags with plain reasons. Flagged roles are never scored, drafted or sent.
- Your name matters to you. Nothing sends until you approve it, and it goes out from your address.
- You're doing more than a job search. If you're also selling a service or raising money, Istos runs those pipelines in the same place, in the same voice.

Every role checked against the company's own site, on demo data.
Where they're stronger
I'd be doing you a disservice if I didn't say this plainly.
- Coverage. Simplify indexes 50+ job boards and career pages daily, and Jobright says it has over 8 million jobs. Istos only sees companies you watch, on boards it can read, plus a few government job banks. Roles on systems like Workday won't show up unless you add them.
- The application form itself. Most applications happen in a form on the company's site. Simplify's Copilot and Jobright's autofill fill those forms. Istos writes an email; it doesn't fill forms.
- Tailored resumes. Simplify+ and Jobright tailor your resume to each role. Istos attaches the same resume every time.
- Price for a job search alone. Simplify and Jobright have free plans with real features, and LazyApply's basic plan is $99 a year. Istos's Starter is free during the private beta, but access is by invite for now.
- Scale and track record. These tools have millions of users between them. Istos is new.
When to choose them instead
- Choose LazyApply (opens in a new tab) if your plan is volume and you're comfortable with applications going out without a review step.
- Choose Simplify (opens in a new tab) if you apply mostly through company portals and want them filled in for you, with your review before submitting, or if you want resume tailoring on a free or weekly plan.
- Choose Jobright (opens in a new tab) if you want the widest pool of roles with match scores and alumni connections, and you're in a market its index covers well.
- Choose Istos if you want a short list of checked roles at companies you care about, a warm path to a person, and the final say on everything that goes out. Or if a job search is one of several things you're doing at once.
Some people will use two. Autofill for portals and Istos for the roles that deserve a note to a person is a perfectly sensible setup.
How we checked
On 5 October 2026 we read each company's own pricing, product and help pages, linked below. We didn't use review sites or third-party lists. Where a page didn't state something, the table says "not stated" or "not covered on the pages we read". If you work at one of these companies and something here is wrong or out of date, email info@istosagent.com and we'll correct it.
